The Doctor is in

Not the most stellar of premieres, but it was wonderful to see that spinning blue box again.

And another season of Torchwood comes to a close. I hope that in season three they sort out their issue with a cohesive arc that has a more meaningful impact on the finale. So far the showrunners have peppered something of an arc randomly through different episodes and then have “plotlines” I was unaware of suddenly come together completely out of nowhere. While I like the big arcs other shows have, Torchwood is really about each of character’s plotline. That’s what I find myself caring about the most.

I started Haibane Renmei again. I had started on the fansub years ago and then gotten distracted.

Are you local?

The League of Gentlemen is a nasty bit of BBC comedy. It has a high production value, memorable characters and it is just plain weird. Not as vulgar as Little Britain, but definitely grotesque at times. It can get dark and uncomfortable, falling between The Office and Extras on the discomfort scale.

And yes, Veronica Mars is still #1 after the astonishing season four premiere of Lost. The writing on Veronica Mars is better, the storytelling tighter and the mysteries are far more cohesive, if not as earth-shattering.

Torchwood is back!

I don’t know if this is just a guilty pleasure or it really is a good show, but damn is Torchwood fun! And now they’ve added James Marsters to the mix. Awesome season 2 premiere. Reminded me why I love the show.

I think I’ve been spoiled by Veronica Mars. The season 1 finale knocked my head right out of the park. Did not see that one coming.

Flash Forward

D-Bomb, the Sulpices and I hung out at Nukes’ place last night playing Rock Band and re-watching the last few episodes of Lost Season 3. The situation with the writer’s strike is infuriating. The best case scenario is looking like eight episodes of Lost with no sort of mid-season finale and then nothing for an indefinite amount of time.

Veronica Mars

Working my way through the first season of Veronica Mars. Expertly written and acted, the show is full of stories that let you think you know what’s going on before throwing convention out the window.
